Lanka moves up in prosperity index

Sri Lanka has been ranked 61 of 142 countries in the Legatum Prosperity Index 2015 released recently. Sri Lanka was ranked 62 last year.

The Legatum Institute is an international think-tank and educational charity focussing on promoting prosperity, and ranks 142 countries across eight categories - economy, entrepreneurship and opportunity; governance, education, health, safety and security, personal freedom, and social capital.

Sri Lanka's is ranked 65 in Economy, 85 in Entrepreneurship and Opportunity, 58 and 59 in Governance and Education.


Mathews - brand ambassador, NDB Bank

Angelo Mathews has been appointed as NDB Bank brand ambassador to take forward the new brand identity to NDBs audience.

An illustrious cricketing personality he can be easily linked with the NDB Brand values of integrity, excellence, creativity, accountability and sincerity.

Cricket appeals to every Sri Lankan and Mathews being the National ODI Cricket Captain since February 2013 has also been recognized as the youngest Test Cricket captain in Sri Lanka and is trusted and respected by all Sri Lankan's for his qualities as a good team player and successful game finisher.


Mihin Lanka flies to Chennai

Mihin Lanka recently flew South Indian film star Mirchi Siva, with 200 other passengers on the airline's inaugural flight from Colombo to Chennai.

Mihin Lanka operates three flights per week to Chennai and hopes to increase the frequency to five per week soon. The airline also flies to Gaya, Varanasi, Madurai and Kolkata and has been ranked by Skytrax as the third best low-cost airline in Central Asia and India.

Today, it is recognized as one of the region's affordable travel brands and offers direct flights to 12 destinations in the region, which service corporate, business, pilgrim, and leisure travellers.


Sri Lanka subscribes to IMF's SDDS

Sri Lanka has subscribed to the International Monetary Fund's Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS), bringing the number of subscribing jurisdictions to 66. Sri Lanka is the 15th country to graduate to the SDDS from the IMF's General Data Dissemination System (GDDS), in which the country has participated since July, 2000.

Sri Lanka has benefitted from a project on the Improvement of Data Dissemination in the Asia and Pacific Region, financed by the government of Japan, which assists countries to subscribe to SDDS and promote data dissemination under the e-GDDS.
