Halloween asteroid, a 'spooky' surprise
Among the usual tricks and treats of Halloween, this year we have an
extra spooky surprise coming our way!
NASA announced that an asteroid measuring between 320 - 640 metres
will shoot towards Earth on October 31, travelling at 78,000 miles per
hour.
Although the asteroid will not hit Earth, it will come scarily close
- within 1.3 times the distance of the moon. This will be closest
encounter since 2006.
Nicknamed 'Spooky' in honour of Halloween, the asteroid managed to
avoid detection until October 10th due to it's strange orbit.
The Chilli King

Li Yongzhi earned the nickname 'Chilli King' from his rather unusual
diet...he eats 2.5kg of chillies every day!
Li loves the red-hot chillies so much that he grows eight varieties
in his backyard in China. He says ever since he was young he enjoys
anything spicy.
The first thing Li does in the morning instead of brushing his teeth
is to eat chilli peppers! Throughout the day Li eats around 2.5 kg of
his favourite spicy snack.
While some people joke that Li has some superhuman powers, he says
that the hospital has assured him that he is no different from anyone
else. He simply loves chilli peppers!
NZ ranked a wealthy country
New Zealand has been ranked second in the world in terms of wealth,
according to an annual report of 200 countries. The Credit Suisse report
has highlighted how New Zealand comes second behind Switzerland, with
wealth on the rise. This figure is hard to believe for some people, as
due to their humble culture they do not consider themselves very
wealthy. However, as a country they recently overtook Australia on the
median asset basis.
A contributory factor to this is New Zealand's strong run in property
prices, which has increased NZ's net wealth from around $US100,000 in
2000 to touching US$400,000 now. However, a writer on inequality, Max
Rashbrooke, said how he is not sure whether the figures (presented in
the report) have been used correctly. This is because the figures
captured the size of the housing bubble, which inflated the estimates.
