Sobitha Thera's condition worsens

The condition of Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera, who was airlifted to a hospital in Singapore late Monday night, has taken a turn for the worse, a source close to the Thera told Sunday Observer.

"The Thera's Diabetic condition has worsened leading to kidney failure. He is presently under treatment at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore," he added.

Sources also said that the Thera was taken to Singapore for further treatment as he developed Pneumonia following a bypass surgery performed in a Sri Lankan private hospital.

The Thera is the Chief Incumbent of the Kotte Sri Naga Viharaya and is the convenor of the People's Movement for a Free and Just Society.
