JVP to move no-faith motion against Marapana
by Ranil Wijayapala
The JVP is seeking legal advise to bring about a no confidence motion
against Minister Tilak Marapana in Parliament. This, according to JVP
National Organiser and MP Bimal Ratnayake, is the first move in a series
of legal actions against government ministers involved in corrupt deals.
Ratnayake said the JVP will not confine itself only to a
no-confidence motion but will also resort to several other legal action
and public protests demanding the removal of Minister Tilak Marapana
from his office.
He commended the civil society organization who made public
statements calling for the resignation of Minister Marapana from his
Ministerial post.
The MP who also hosted a media briefing at the JVP head office in
Pelawatta, said President Maitripala Sirisena should remove the corrupt
Ministers from their Cabinet post before the 2016 Budget.
“If they remain in their Ministerial post until the Budget vote, the
JVP will call a division on the Law and Order and Prison Reforms
Ministry vote and will vote against that Ministry vote,” he warned.
He pointed out that the direct links of Ministers Tilak Marapana,
Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and Vajira Abeywardena has been exposed. |
