An exhibition of embroidery and crafts :

Students of Astrid Fernando and her daughter Anushka Pitiyage will hold their 9th exhibition of embroidery and quilling at the Art Gallery, Town Hall from 9.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. on November 14 and 15.

For 14 years her work has been shown on several TV channels, and this year the exhibition will display a wide range of hand embroidered table cloths, cushions and a vast collection of intricate paper quilling designs.

"I am very happy and proud to say that I have introduced many hand embroidery varieties to Sri Lanka such as needle tatting, teneriffe lace, needle lace, Ruskin lace, and many more. "I am also the first to create intricate designs in quilling on printed sceneries. Together with my daughter and my students we are the creative minds behind this show," she said.
