Havelocks, Police kick-off rugby season

Havelocks and Police will herald the new inter club League rugby season when they scrum down in the curtain raiser under lights at Havelock Park on November 20 (Friday).

Navy and Air Force will also kick-off their match on the same day in Welisara, but the Havelock Park game will be the crowd puller in the city. On Saturday CR and FC will host Army at Longdon Place after which defending champs Kandy will flex their muscles against underdog CH and FC at Nittawela on Sunday.

Eight teams are in the fray after Hambantota Sharks joined Upcountry Lions in the where-are-they-now files.

The first round games end on January 10 with Kandy hosting Navy at Nittawela before the second round begins.

CH pulled out from the League last year without funds and a venue to host matches, but according to the schedule are listed to play their home matches at Maitland Crescent.
