Water's Edge transforms into a 'Winter Wonderland'
Water's Edge, the hotel by the lake is being transformed into the
classic images of Christmas cards with its own version of a 'Winter
Wonderland' this festive season.
A 15-foot 'W' will be set up and illuminated at night near Diyatha
Uyana. It will also be surrounded by Christmas trees of various heights.
The road leading to the hotel will also be adorned with strings of fairy
lights. Santa's sleigh complete with his reindeer will be parked outside
Sri Lanka's only drive-in bakery. The entire hotel will also be lit up.
The festivities will begin with a children's party on Sunday,
December 6. Many modern day super heroes will make an appearance. Rides,
bouncers, face painting, and a variety of games for children and
children-at-heart will culminate with the lighting of the 30-foot
Christmas tree which will be made out of glass tubes.
This tree is another first in a string of many innovative ideas
introduced by Water's Edge. Children and adults can also enjoy a buffet
with all the festive favourites. Cinnamon Air will fly children and
their parents to enjoy the scenic view of the Winter Wonderland.
An acapella choir will bring back old memories at the Waters Edge
signature restaurant Pranzo while a children's choir will serenade
guests during High Tea on December 19.
Christmas lunch and dinner will also feature an extensive menu of
all-time favourite goodies with special treats for the young ones. The
festivities will continue on Boxing Day for when you need to take a rest
with family and friends.
In keeping with the Waters Edge tradition of inventive offerings and
promotions, the year will conclude with the New Year's Eve party. The
grand ballroom will be transformed into a restaurant with a dance floor
where families can enjoy the best of both worlds. |
