Video Games Festival from Nov. 27 to 29

Casual gamers, cyber athletes, comic book fans and cos players will compete in the annual Games Festival at the BMICH from November 27-29.

The festival comprises the Sri Lanka Cyber Games, e-Sports tournament and the Lanka Comic Con. The tournament caters to gamers from the Western, Southern and Central regions of the country. Players will be brought to Colombo upon qualifying for the grand finale.

The Southern Qualifier will be held on November 7 and 8 at ESOFT Metro Campus in Matara. The Central Qualifiers will be held on November 14 and 15 at the Kandy City Centre in the hill capital, Kandy. Winners of these two events will qualify to take part in the grand finals held at the BMICH.

The festival attracts close to 2,000 tournament participants and over 10,000 visitors to witness the games, dress up as their favourite characters and take part in a variety of other activities at the event. Attendees will be able to watch the best gamers in Sri Lanka face off on the main stage, take part in mini-games and win prizes, dress up as their favourite characters, take part in cosplay competitions, peruse Sri Lankan comic art, swap, buy and sell geek goodies at the flea market all while being immersed in this emerging culture.

Organised by Gamer.LK, a multi-genre video gaming community that's powered by digital entertainment enthusiasts, the event was first held in 2008, and is today the largest of its kind in Sri Lanka.
