Black players welcomed home

The winning All Black Players were welcomed home by fans and supporters at the Auckland Airport, and some of them were face painted and All Black shirts, cheered widely as Richie McCaw lifted the Web Ellis cup. One fan, Cheryl, had got up before dawn to travel from Tuakau, in the Waikato, to welcome her favourite team.

RNZ's John Campbell was at the airport and told Morning Report that among the masses were young children, some of whom had been waiting since 4 a.m. to see their heroes.

Campbell said how some of the All Blacks were stunned at the huge reception and Richie McCaw and Ma'a Nonu said they were `stoked'. There will be similar public events to welcome home the boys in black in Christchurch and Wellington.
