IFJ Asia Pacific releases report on 10 missing journalists
Without A Trace: Missing Media Workers in the Asia Pacific, a report
by the Asia Pacific Division of the International Federation of
Journalists(IFJ) will be released tomorrow (16).
The report is IFJ Asia Pacific's missing journalists' list which
documents cases of the 10 missing journalists across the region.
In a statement, IFJ Asia Pacific stated: "Impunity runs rife across
the Asia Pacific region and forced abductions are just one example of
the attacks and violence that journalists in the Asia Pacific region
face every day.
Every time a journalist is abducted or disappears without a trace,
the impact on press freedom can be devastating.
There is no doubt that the insecurity and fear created by a
disappearance ripples through the entire media community, which sadly
too often is the strategy of those responsible."
On November 16, the IFJ and Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ),
supported by IFEX will launch Without a Trace in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Those interested can join the discussion on social media using the
#IF Missing and information is available at the IFJ website (http://www.ifj.org/regions/asia-pacific/end-impunity-campaign/) |
