YWCA Walk on 'Child Abuse'

The Colombo Young Women's Christian Association has organised a Walk on "Child Abuse" tomorrow, November 16, at 10.00 a.m. starting from the Colombo YWCA premises, 393, Union Place, Colombo 2.

All well wishers are kindly requested to join to 'Save Our Children', dressed in black and white.


'Thomian Rhythm Night'

The 'Thomian Rhythm Night' organised by the Past Students' Association of St.Thomas's College, Kotte will be held today, November 15 from 6.30 pm at the new auditorium.

The proceeds of the show will be used to enhance cricket facilities. Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake will be the guest of honour.

Ronnie Leitch and Solite will provide the music with Priyanka Perera, Nimal Jayamanna, Suneth Walpola, Geoffrey Fernando and Judy de Silva.

'Osama' at SAARC Cultural Centre

A film from Afghanistan, 'Osama', written, edited and directed by Siddiq Barmak, as part of the SAARC Cultural Centre's Film Day series, will be screened at the National Film Corporation auditorium, Colombo on November 19 at 6.30 p.m. in collaboration with the Embassy of Afghanistan in Sri Lanka.

Entrance is free.


Launch of Sangam: Festival of India 2015-2016

The High Commission of India will launch a Festival of India in Sri Lanka in pursuant to an announcement made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Sri Lanka in March 2015.

The theme of the Festival is 'Sangam': a confluence of cultures of India and Sri Lanka. The logo of the Festival, which is a pictorial depiction of 'Sangam' in Sinhala, Hindi and Tamil, is a manifestation of the symbiotic ties that bind us. Various events will be held as part of the Festival in 2015-16.

The inaugural event, a mosaic of Indian dance forms, 'Nrityarupa', is scheduled to be held in Colombo on November 19, 2015 at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre, at Kandy on November 21, 2015 at Hindu Cultural Hall, and at Galle on November 23, 2015 at Hall de Galle.


Familians get-together

The annual get-together of the Past Pupils' Association of Holy Family Convent, Kalutara will be held on Sunday, November 22 from 9.30 am at the Bandu River Inn, Riverside Road, Palatota, Kalutara.

Krishnamurti talk

A recorded public talk on 'What is Right Action?' delivered by the late Indian sage, Jiddu Krishnamurti will be replayed at Anula Nursery School, High Level Road, Colombo 6, today, November 15 at 9.45 a.m.
