Buddhika sets record

Buddhika Pathirana, MP for Matara has set a record in parliamentary
history, having moved 127 Private Member’s Motions, of which five have
since been taken up for debate and approved. MP Pathirana told the
Sunday Observer that he has moved the highest number of Private Member’s
Motions moved by an MP in the post-independence parliament. They focused
on a series of burning issues affecting the public and added that they
have been moved in consultation with professionals in their fields.
The remainder will be taken up for debate next year since the budget
debate will commence on November 21 and will continue until December 19.
MP Pathirana requested the media to extend support to bring these
people-friendly Motions before the public and create a dialogue on their
importance. |
