Reveal MPs names in Avant Garde deals - JVP
by Chathuri Dissanayake
The JVP renewed its call for an independent investigation in the
Avant Garde deal, claiming that nearly 10 more MPs of the Government
were involved in the deal.
“The involvement of Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and
SLFP Galle District Leader and Cabinet Minister of Home Affairs, Vajira
Abeywardana, should be investigated. The government cannot sacrifice the
ministerial post of Thilak Marapana and keep silent. They have to carry
out a proper investigation and take action against all those who are
involved,” JVP Member Wasantha Samarasinghe, said.
“The name of the person who took Avant Garde owner Senadhipathi to
meet President Sirisena and other associations has been revealed. Legal
action should be taken those who are involved,” he said.
The JVP will monitor the next steps of the government before taking
specific action, Samarasinghe said. He claimed all prisoners serving
sentences for the possession of illegal firearms should be released if
the Attorney General’s department claims that the company is not
breaking any laws and prosecution is not necessary. |
