Mahamaya a cut above the rest

Mahamaya Girls College Kandy won both the team championship and relay collecting 88 and 40 points respectively while boys’ team championship was won by Dharmaraja College Kandy with 104 points at the Kids and Junior Athletic Meet organised by the Kandy District Athletic Association and held at the Bogambara Stadium on November 9 and 10.

The relay championship for boys was won by St. Sylvester’s College Kandy collecting 70 points. K.H.D.A. Kaushalya of St. Andrew’s Girls School Nawalapitiya was adjudged best performer when she cleared a distance of 4.64 metres in the under-16 long jump while DGUB Abeyratne won the boys best performer’s award when he clocked 23.68 seconds in the under-16 200 metres.

Girls’ Team Championship Champion – Mahamaya Girls’ College Kandy – 88 points
Runners-up-Berrewerts College Ampitiya – 41 points
Third: Good Shepherd Convent Kandy and St. Anthony’s Girls’ College Katugastota – 32 points

Boys’ Team Championship:Champions- Dharmaraja College Kandy – 2014 points
Runners-up-Anthony’s College Katugastota-81 points
Third: Trinity College Kandy – 51 points

Relay Championship (Girls):

Winner: Mahamaya Girls’ College Kandy – 40 points
Second Place: Hemamali Balika Kandy – 34 points
Third Place: Pushpadana Balika Kandy – 21 points

Relay Championship (Boys):

Winner: St.Sylvester’s College Kandy – 70 points
Second place – St. Anthony’s College Katugastota – 57 points
Third place: Trinity College Kandy – 55 points
