CEAT Tarmac championship ends today

The CEAT AMRC-SLADAR Tarmac Championship that left motorsport fans on the edge of their seats comes to a close today at the Pannala track.

The racers in the lead are Ashan Silva for Group SL-GT Cars upto 3500 cc, Nishan Wasalathanthri for SL-S Cars upto 1500 cc, Bryan Perera and Chandima Gooneratne for Group - SL F Formula McLarens 4 EFI 1300 CC, Sumal Marco Warnakulasooriya for Group - SL F Formula McLarens Carburetor 1300 CC, Susantha Gunawardena for Group SL N Ford Laser/Mazda 1300 CC, Pramuka Sesath de Silva for Group M Standard/Modified Motorcycles Open Over 250 cc and Suraj Perera for Group SM Super Motard upto 450 CC.

Eight champions will be crowned for cars and two for motorcyclists.

The current standings are based on the points that have been accumulated during the first two meets in May and July and certain categories have the first and second place contenders in such close proximity that the third meet could easily lead to an upset.

There's no guarantee who will win.
