Teenager with TT's bravest heart



Samadhi with her school principal Indra Withanachchi and the Cup she won.

Samadhi Sankalpani Hettiarachchi a14 year old student of Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy came out with a sterling performance to win the under 18 table tennis title at the Junior National Championship held at S.Thomas' College Indoor Stadium, Mount Lavinia last month. To win the title she beat Ruvini Kannangara of Museaus College 3/2. Samadhi achieved the feat after Deepika Rodrigo of the same school won the title 20 years ago. On her way to the final Samadhi beat fellow schoolmate Ridmi Kandanarachchi 3/2, Imasha de Silva of Dharmasoka, Ambalangoda by 3/1, Natasha Sandamini of Vishaka Vidyalaya 3/1 and Chamathsara Fernando of Vishaka Vidyalaya 3/1.

Samadhi started her table tennis career in the year 2006 and learned her basics in table tennis from Chandima Abeyratne and former national coach Mahinda Ellepola.

Her present coaches are Buddhika Dikkumbura and Gayan Liyanage.
