CCC-CCPIT MoU to promote trade, investment and tourism
The Sri Lanka-China Investment and Trade Symposium jointly organized
by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)
Zhejiang, Zhejiang Chamber of International Commerce and the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce (CCC) was held last week.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and The China Council for the
Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial
Committee exchange the MoU to promote trade, investment and
tourism development between the two countries. |
Over 120 businessmen from Sri Lanka participated in the forum, at the
Hilton Colombo. The Chinese delegation included 77 Chinese businessmen
and officials.
Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen, Vice
Chairperson of CPPCC (the Chinese People's Political Consultative
Conference) Zhejiang Provincial Committee, Madam Chen Yanhua, China's
Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Yi Xianliang, President, CCPIT Zhejiang, Mrs.
Wu Guiying, Chairperson, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Mrs. Indira
Malwatte, Chairman, Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, Upul Jayasuriya,
Secretary General and CEO, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Mangala P. B.
Yapa and President, Sri Lanka-China Business Council of the CCC,
Navindra Abeysekera were also present.
The Chinese delegation was mainly looking for co-operation in the
areas of project investment, technology transfer, research and
development, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, patent licensing and
brand cooperation, products and service subcontract, and setting up
branches and sales network.
Businesses covering agriculture, auto parts and components, chemical,
construction materials and machinery, e-commerce, energy, fishery and
forestry, food processing, garments, infrastructure, service industry,
textiles and trading were also discussed among the delegates.
An MoU was signed between the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and The
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Zhejiang
Provincial Committee to promote trade, investment and Tourism
development between the two countries.
The Chinese delegation comprised businessmen from the Zhejiang
Province, in the southern part of Yangtze River Delta of the southeast
coast of China. |
