The new package was launched at Hemas Hospital, Wattala. The Chief Guest was Director, Private Health Sector Regulatory Council, Dr Kanthi Ariyaratne and Guest of Honour, Ms Lalitha Abeygunawardena, president, Nursing Council of Sri Lanka. Managing Director, Hemas Hospitals, Dr Lakith Peiris said, "Each delivery at any of the Hemas Hospitals represents the dedicated work of our team of Consultant Obstetricians, Gynaecologists and Paediatricians, nurses and the rest of the hospital's medical staff, who are the backbone of our hospitals. Our clinicians and services are always ready to handle every delivery situation."

While stepping into motherhood at Hemas Hospitals, each mother will be showered with a host of gifts, including a savings account with HNB for the new born, with an initial deposit of Rs 1,500. Gift packs of baby toiletries, diapers and infant clothes, bottles and baby accessories are also part of the package. The mum to be has access to post-delivery care of the new born, including breast feeding, ante-natal and other essential tips in coping with a new born.

Babies born under the Maathru package are also entitled to free vaccinations and inoculations at Hemas Hospitals, up to 10 years of age.

The hospital's support facilities of Intensive Care Unit, surgical theatres and blood bank, are available and accessible for any emergencies.

The packaged maternity deal offers two packages, based on the needs of parents.

The accreditation with Australian Council of Healthcare Standards that has been conferred on Hemas Hospitals, ensures an extra level of distinction to the overall standards.

"The Maathru package just enhances a new parent's experience and is our way of thanking them for choosing to have their babies at our hospitals," Dr Peiris said.
