Megapolis draft Master Plan to PM

The initial draft of the Western Region Megapolis Master Plan, the
flagship development project of the government will be handed over to
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on December 10, for his perusal,
Ajita de Costa, Chairman of the Western Region Megapolis Planning
Project told the Sunday Observer.
Officials of the Western Region Megapolis Planning Project were
drafting the master plan under the supervision of the Singaporean Urban
Planning Group, Surbana.
The premier is expected to direct the project based on the initial
draft of the master plan so that it could be finalised by the end of
this year.
Once the master plan is completed it will be laid out to attract
investors for projects stipulated in the master plan.
The Singaporean expert team was in Sri Lanka for the second time last
week and held discussions with Sri Lankan officials in drafting the
western region megapolis master plan.
According to Jeffrey Ho, the leader of the Singaporean team they were
assisting Sri Lankan officials to draft the master plan for the project.
"The master plan will be a Sri Lankan one and the Singaporean team
was here only to assist in the drafting," Jeffrey Ho said.
"All plans by different government agencies will be taken into
account and will be converged into a single plan,"officials added.
The Budget allocation was Rs.10,000 million for projects under the
megapolis project. |
