Josephians carols on December 5
Over 300 singers will participate in the Josephian Christmas carols
on Saturday, December 5 at 6.15 p.m. at the Stanley Abeysekara Sports
Complex. Titled Veni Veni Emmanuel (O Come O Come Emmanuel), the service
will include popular carols, classical sacred compositions and Christmas
songs in diverse languages. Beethoven's 'Creation Anthem' will be
combined with Handel's "For unto us a Child is Born." Silent Night will
begin in its original German version and 'O Come All Ye Faithful' in
Latin.
Rev. Fr. Marcelline Jayakody's Namo Mariyene and the popular
Christmas song Seethala Sulanga will be rendered in Sinhala followed by
Rajathi Rajamani in Tamil. The 150-strong primary choir will sing in
English and Sinhala whilst the teachers' choir comprising 20 members
will render two carols in Sinhala and Tamil. The Bishop of Galle, the
Rt. Rev. Dr. Raymond Wickramasinghe will deliver the Christmas message. |
