Police rampage over CH with ten tries

Police Sports Club routed CH and FC by a massive 60 points (five
goals, five tries) to nil in a Dialog A Division League rugby match
played at Police Park yesterday after leading 24-nil at half time.
Police started scoring with an easy try by winger Chula Susantha, who
touched down near the left corner flag in the seventh minute of the game
to take thelead on a wet field. Fullback Riza Mubarak was unable to
convert it.
The home team’s Number Eight Bilal Hassen, who played a grand game,
scored the second try also near the left corner flag after a brilliant
run. This time too, Mubarak missed the conversion but Police increased
the lead10-nil within the first 20 minutes.
The Police team’s outside half Mohamed Sheriff dashed through to
touch down near the left corner flag to score their third try and
Mubarak made no mistake with the conversion as they took a 17-0 lead
that was stretched to 24-0 at half time after Hassen scored for Mubarak
to add the extra points.
After resumption Hassen scored another try which was converted by
Mubarak who made it 31-0.
Winger Chula Susantha scored his second try touching down near the
left post before Mubarak made yet another successful conversion amid
cheers. In the 38th minute of the second half, Police increased the lead
scoring another unconverted try by Sugath. Five minutes later Hassen
touched down near the posts to make it a half century of points.
Nine minutes before the end Gihan Silva scored an unconverted try to
make it 55-0 and Police ran out winners 60-0 after an under-the-post try
scored by Sasanka Harischandra. |
