Veteran Sri Lankan athlete from Rahula College, Matara, Kosala
Sahabandu, was recently felicitated by the Southern Province Sports
Ministry.
A champion middle distance runner he established a new Sri Lanka
record for the 800 meters event in 1974 and representend Sri Lanka at
many international meets during the course of his career. He was a
member of the Sri Lanka 4x400 relay team that established a new Asian
Games record at the 1974 Asian Games held in Bangkok and also was a
member of the Sri Lanka 4x400 relay quartet at the Moscow Olympics held
in 1980. |
