Weightlifter Ransilu wins Singapore gold
Weightlifter Ransilu Jayatilleke won a gold medal in the 120
kilogrammes weight category at the Singapore Open Power Lifting
Championships held recently.
Ransilu lifted a total of 685kgs consisting of 305.5kg Dead Lift, the
highest ever lift by a Sri Lankan in the history of the sport.
"This was a great achievement for me in my relatively young weight
lifting career. This medal has given me further inspiration to do even
better and bring more gold to my motherland. I know that I can do it",
Ransilu said.
He has 24 international medals in weightlifting and power-lifting
that includes a gold medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games and Silver at
the Junior World Powerlifting Championship.
He is currently training to take part in the Commonwealth
Championships in December in Vancouver, Canada. |
