Goldi Sands turns 40
Goldi Sands Hotel, one of the pioneers in the tourist hotel industry,
will increase the number of rooms to 130 from 71 to cater to the surge
in the number of tourist arrivals.
Located along the west coastal strip of Negombo, the hotel launched
operations in 1974.
It occupies a prime location as the property spans across the beach
of the Indian Ocean. Goldi Sands though classed in the three-star
category, offers the service of a 4-star hotel.
The hotel turned 40 last week.
It underwent a Rs. 150 million refurbishment in 2010 and a Rs. 250
million refurbishment in 2015 upgrading it to a four-star property.
Repeat clients account for about 30% of the guests.
Accommodation at Goldi Sands is split across four categories, two
suites, four cabanas, eight economy rooms and 57 standard rooms.
The suites and the standard rooms are well situated with a view of
the sea and are tastefully furnished. Guests can expect all facilities
such as air-conditioning, hot water, TV, tea, coffee making facilities,
safe deposit box, hair dryers and a private balcony/terrace. The suites
are spacious and guests can enjoy their own jacuzzi.
The bright and big swimming pool with a Jacuzzi offers guests plenty
of deck space and beach beds on the beach.
The main bar is a popular crowd puller and guests can enjoy their
drink or snack, served right to their seating location, at their
convenience. The stewards will bring your choice of juice, spirit, beer
or wine straight to you.
To add value to the guest experience, the resort features a Balinese
spa where therapists will rejuvenate and revitalize guests with a
variety of massages and spa treatment.
Located overlooking the sea is the in-house restaurant. Seating 200,
the dining space offers a pleasant setting for guests and diners.
Chairman, Goldi Sands Hotel, Eric Suriyasena said the Goldi Chef's
team is dedicated to presenting the island's flavours and as such,
serves a comprehensive buffet spread with the best of Eastern and
Western dishes. |
