Navy rescues injured fisherman
The Sri Lanka Naval ship Jayasagara rescued an injured fisherman in
the southern seas, on Wednesday following a request by the Sri Lanka
Coast Guard and brought him to the Galle Harbour.
The injured fisherman had been among the five-member crew of a
multi-day fishing trawler, Yasaisuri, which had left the Beruwala
Fishery Harbour on November 10.
Following instructions from Naval Headquarters, the Southern Naval
Command directed SLNS Jayasagara, which had been on routine patrol, to
bring the fisherman ashore.
After preliminary treatment by SLN medical personnel, the fisherman
was handed over to his relations to be taken for further treatment. |
