The latest classical book 'Amaradeva Maha Gandharva Vibudhayano' (Amaradeva
Music Maestro and Sage of Sri Lankan Music) written by Dr. Nuwan
Nayanajith Kumara will be launched on Thursday, December 10 at 3.00 p.m.
at the Panibaratha Theatre, University of Visual and Performing Arts,
Albert Crescent, Colombo 7. The book comprising about 1000 pages,
includes the biography and critical study of Sri Lanka's greatest
vocalist and musician Padma Sri Dr. Pandit Amaradeva. It also has a
collection of rare photographs of the Maestro.
The keynote address of the event will be by Professor Emeritus Sunil
Ariyaratne and the welcome address will be by the Vice Chancellor of the
University of Visual and Performing Arts, Professor Ariyaratne
Kaluarachchi.
The launch event will consist of several music and dance recitals by
the undergraduates of the University of Visual and Performing Arts,
compered by Vajira Jayawardene and Parami Ranasinghe, with Upul Guruge
scripting the event.
Published by Surasa Publications, the book is a tribute to the
Chancellor of the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Pundit
Amaradeva by Nuwan Nayanajith Kumara, the first Ph.D. holder of the
University of Visual and Performing Arts. |
