Junior squash Nationals gets underway with 300 players

The 26th Junior National Squash Championship sponsored by Ritzbury
Chocolates got underway at the Sugathadasa Sports Complex yesterday.
More than 300 players are taking part in the under-9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and
19 age categories for boys and girls with the Novices events being held
for boys and girls in the under-11, 15 and 19 age groups.
"As a corporate we consider providing sponsorship for the Junior
Squash Nationals a great opportunity to help our young players reach
national and international standards", said Theja Peiris the Group
General Manager - Marketing of Ceylon Biscuits Limited while handing
over the sponsorship cheque to Suranjith Premadasa president of the Sri
Lanka Squash Federation at a media briefing held at Olympic House on
Wednesday.
K D S Ruwanchandra Director General of Sports Development,
Priyadharshana Jayawardena and Kyle Conrad treasurer of SLSF were also
associated with the event. This is the ninth consecutive year that
Ritzbury and CBL have partnered the Sri Lanka Squash Federation to stage
the Junior Squash Nationals.The awards presentation will be held on
December 12.
