IASL awards top achievers

The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) hosted the Life
Insurance Industry Awards Ceremony on December 4 at the Kingsbury to
mark the Life Insurance Awareness Month campaign in September.
The principle objective of the event was to recognize and reward the
top sales producers and sales officers of the Life Insurance industry,
especially those who contributed to the success of the 'Life Insurance
Awareness Month' campaign.
One-hundred top sales officers were presented awards. The industry
achieved a 30% growth in new policies in September 2015.
Managing Director and Vice President, LIMRA/LOMA, Ian Watts was the
chief guest and Chairperson, Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL), Mrs.
Indrani Sugathadasa was the guest of honour. Director General, IBSL,
Mrs. Damayanthi Fernando was also present. The campaign and the awards
ceremony is the bond among those in the insurance industry who worked
tirelessly to ensure the development and enhancement of life insurance
in Sri Lanka, said Dirk Pereira, who congratulated the IASL on its
"ability to bring everyone together" in his welcome speech. He also
thanked everyone for their contributions for the success of the
campaign. The chief guest, Watts said that LIMRA and LOMA were proud to
contribute to what he termed "an outstanding achievement". On the
importance of life insurance, Watts said, "life insurance is the
foundation of society. Those who faced tragedy should be protected.
The insurance industry rebuilds and protects". He acknowledged the
contributions of those who had worked hard in the insurance industry.
The Chairman of the Marketing and Sales Forum, Samitha Hemachandra
outlined the targets achieved due to the 'Life Insurance Awareness
Month' campaign. He also thanked those present for their contribution in
making the campaign a success and thus enhancing the growth of the life
insurance industry in Sri Lanka.
