Farook and, Northern Provincial Councillor (TNA) Dr. Kandiah Sarveswaran
will speak at a public discussion on 'The National Question' at the
Mahaweli Centre auditorium, Ananda Cumaraswamy Mawatte, Colombo 7,
today, December 13, at 9.30 a.m.
The discourse is convened by the National Fraternity Collective.
Krishnamurti talk
A recorded public talk on ' Freedom from the self' delivered by the
late Indian sage, Jiddu Krishnamurti will be played at Anula Nursery
School, High Level Road,Colombo 6, today, December 13 at 9.45 a.m.

Convocation of Minnathul Fasiyya Arabic College

The sixth convocation ceremony of Minnathul Fasiyya Arabic College,
Matara will be held today, December 13 at 9.00 a.m. on the second floor
of the Kadaweediya Meera Jumma Masjid. Kaleefathush Shazuli Moulavi Al-Haj
M.S.M. Isthikar (Bari) will preside.
Al-Haj M. Elyas Careem, Proprietor, Maliban Garments will be the
chief guest.
10th Meelad-un-Nabi Celebration 2015
The grand Meelad-un-Nabi celebration for the 10th consecutive year is
scheduled to be held from 24th of December to 27th of December 2015 at
“Baithul barakah”, Galbokka, Weligama, under the patronage of the
spiritual leader of At-Thareeqathul Haqqiyyathul Qadiriyya His Holiness
Ash-Sheikh Jamaliyya Seyed Khaleel Moulana of Kerala, India.
Two new books will also be released on 26th of Dec. where, Western
Province Governor Al Haj Alavi Moulana will be chief guest.
Bhavatharanaya bags New Delhi film award
The feature film Bhavatharanaya (‘Coming of Sansara’) written and
directed by Devinda Kongahage won the Best Film Award at the New Delhi
International Film Festival held on December 10. The Sri Lankan High
Commissioner in New Delhi, Asela Weerakoon accompanied the director to
receive the award. The movie is based on the book by Professor Lorna
Devaraj and the theme explores the Kandyan Kingdom and the Sangha’s
ordination from Thailand. It features leading actors such as Sajeev
Rasaputra, Chandima Nanayakkara, Mahendra Perera, Malini Fonseka and
Udayanthi Kulathunga. The music is by Navaratne Gamage and the duration
of the film is two hours. |
