The ‘Colours Nite 2014’ of Rathnavali

Wigneswaran garlands the statue of the late leader of the
Tamil United Liberation Front and former Deputy Speaker of
Parliament M. Sivasithamparam after unveiling the statue at
Nelliady junction in Vadamaaradchi, Jaffna, recently. The
sculpture was erected under the patronage of the Karaveddy
Development Society. President of the Society, Upali S.
Ponnambalam was also present.
Bhavatharanaya bags New Delhi film award
The feature film Bhavatharanaya (‘Coming
of Sansara’) written and directed by Devinda Kongahage won
the Best Film Award at the New Delhi International Film
Festival held on December 10. The Sri Lankan High
Commissioner in New Delhi, Asela Weerakoon accompanied the
director to receive the award. The movie is based on the
book by Professor Lorna Devaraj and the theme explores the
Kandyan Kingdom and the Sangha’s ordination from Thailand.
It features leading actors such as Sajeev Rasaputra,
Chandima Nanayakkara, Mahendra Perera, Malini Fonseka and
Udayanthi Kulathunga. The music is by Navaratne Gamage and
the duration of the film is two hours.
