Parliament incident:
PM calls for disciplinary action
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday called for disciplinary
action to be taken against some of the members who were responsible for
the uproar which erupted in Parliament on Friday over Wasim Thajudeen’s
murder.
The Prime Minister told Parliament yesterday that disciplinary action
should be taken even if a UNP member had misbehaved.
A tense situation arose in Parliament on Friday when UNP MP Mujibur
Rahman spoke of the controversial killing of rugger player Wasim
Thajudeen. His remarks were met with heated arguments from opposition
members and Parliament proceedings were adjourned twice. (RR) |
