EDULINK's inaugural graduation
The inaugural graduation ceremony of the EDULINK International Campus
was celebrated recently.

The graduating students included those receiving graduate and
postgraduate degrees from the United Kingdom's prestigious University of
Greenwich, as well as those students who have successfully completed
EDULINK's International Foundation Program.
The University of Greenwich conferred Hons. Degrees in subjects
ranging from Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance, International
Business, Computer Science and Business Information Systems.
Postgraduate qualifications conferred included MBA in International
Business and MSc in Computer Science. Top performers in each programs
were awarded certificates and medals.
Group Academic Director of EDULINK Consultants, Prof Helen Mason
said, "The 2015 EDULINK graduation ceremony represents an important
milestone for us. Today we recognise the success of our objective, which
is to produce graduates who are readily employable and have the skills
required to be future leaders.
This target is in keeping with the Government's vision to be an
international hub of excellence for higher education. It is a privilege
to be an active contributor to the country's knowledge-based economic
growth."
Marking Anti-Corruption Day
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) marked Anti-Corruption Day, December 9
with a simple ceremony under the patronage of the Secretary to the
Ministry of Defence, Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi.

The event was organised in line with International Anti-Corruption
Day, which is observed annually on December 9. This year's theme was
'Break the corruption chain'. The national event -the Anti-Corruption
Day Walk got underway from the Viharamahadevi Park at 3.00 p.m. on the
same day.
Hettiarachchi hoisted the national flag to inaugurate the event and
observed two minutes silence to commemorate fallen war heroes.
Later the Ministry staff took the Anti-Corruption Oath. Hettiarachchi
highlighted the aim of the national program, which he said was to raise
public awareness on corruption and what people can do to prevent it. He
also said as public servants it was of utmost importance that everyone
should discharge their duties without leaving room for corruption,
stressing on the need and responsibility of everyone to ensure
compliance with zero tolerance against corruption and fraud. Ministry
officials, Tri Forces officers and other ranks and MoD staff were
present at the occasion.
On board the Shamsheer
A
colorful reception was arranged on board the visiting Pakistan Navy
Ship(PNS) Shamsheer, which was in Sri Lanka on a four-day visit.
Ministers, Diplomats, Senior Officers of the Armed Forces, top
Government officials, business and media personalities, members of the
Pakistani community as well and officers of the High Commission of
Pakistan were present.
Mission Commander, Capt. Syed Rizwan Khalid thanked the Sri Lankan
Navy and the people of Sri Lanka for the warm welcome and hospitality
extended to PNS Shamsheer and its crew.
Later the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Maj Gen (R)
Syed Shakeel Hussain, jointly cut the Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship cake
along with Commander Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra C.
Wijegunaratne, Mission Commander Commodore Bilal Abdul Nasir, Captain
Rizwan Khalid and Defense Advisor Col Rajil Irshad Khan. |
