ICC World Twenty20 cricket: India to meet Pakistan in Dharamsala on
March 19
Hosts India are in tough group with arch-rivals Pakistan and
Australia in the ICC World Twenty20 Cup. The 16-team event will be held
between March 11-April 3, 2016
Former champions and hosts India have been clubbed with Pakistan and
Australia in the ICC World Twenty20 to be played between March 11-April
3, next year.
The groupings and venues were released in Mumbai on Friday.
Dharamsala, the home of Board of Control for Cricket in India
secretary Anurag Thakur, will host the needle clash between India and
Pakistan on March 19. India will open their campaign versus New Zealand
on March 15 in Nagpur.
Delhi and Mumbai will host the semifinal while Kolkata's historic
Eden Gardens will stage the final match.
Sixteen teams will feature in the World Twenty20.
This will be the second time that the tournament will feature six
additional nations apart from the 10 Test-playing countries. Sri Lanka
are the defending champions.
The men's event will carry a total prize money of 5.6 million (USD),
which is an 86 per cent increase from the 2014 tournament in Bangladesh,
while the total prize money for the women's event is USD 400,000, which
