Navy sail on CR's missed chance

Navy scored a hard fought 21 points (one goal, one try and three penalties) to 20 (two goals and two penalties) win over CR and FC in their Dialog League rugby encounter at Longden Place yesterday.

The winners led 16-13 at lemons.

After Thilina Weerasignhe who set the pace for Navy putting over two penalties, flanker Yositha Rajapaksa intercepted a pass and produced a blistering run covering almost the length of the field to touch down unchallenged.

Scrum half Kavinda de Costa opened scoring for the Red Shirts and Prince Chamara added the extra points.

Lee Keegal touched down for an unconverted try for Navy and the CR and FC in a desperate effort fell short of one point when they scored a try which was converted by Prince Chamara. CR had a good chance of beating Navy who were leading 21-20, but during the dying stages of the game the host team fullback missed a crucial penalty.
