New PhD batch at PIM

The Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM) launched its PhD in Business and Public Administration programs - 2016 recently. The new batch of 22 doctoral students is expected to strengthen PIM's research component with those who are already undergoing such programs.

Prof. Ajantha S. Dharmasiri, Director, PIM, spoke on 'Why PhD at the PIM'. He emphasized the need to be intellectually interactive in committing oneself to a deep and devoted learning.

Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission, Prof. P. M. S. Gunaratne, outlined the achievements of PIM in postgraduate studies, and the quality of its programs.

He also stressed the importance of doing a proper doctorate with rigorous research.

Head, Research Centre, PIM, Prof. J. A. S. K. Jayakody spelt out the special features of the PIM's Ph.D. programs. Doctoral candidate, PIM, Haren Gunawardena shared his experiences of doing the Ph.D. at PIM. Senior Consultant, PIM, Dr. A. K .L. Jayawardana also spoke.

Consultant, PIM, Ms. Sakunthala Durairatnam compered the program.
