HNB Assurance and SLIM in education project

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) awarded certificates to a batch of sales professionals from HNB Assurance (HNBA) who successfully completed the Diploma in Professional Selling (DPS) at the annual convocation at Hotel Samudra recently.

This was the fifth consecutive year in which SLIM, the national body for marketing, partnered with HNBA for this corporate education project which enhances the talents of sales professionals.

The chief guest was Chairman, Board of Study, SLIM, Dehan Seneviratne. CEO, HNB Assurance, Niranjan Manikkam, Secretary, SLIM, Pradeep Edward, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, SLIM, Sanath Senanayake, Head of Business Development, Ms. Mihirinie Fonseka and Manager Education Gayan Maldeniya were also present.

W. E. H. Perera was selected the Best Student from a batch comprising over 50 graduates who followed an extensive curriculum during the one-year course. The Best Student and the First Runner-up, J A Ruwinda Niroshan were awarded full scholarships.

Lecturing was facilitated for this program by National Sales Training and Development Manager - Life, HNB Assurance PLC, Sudath Perera and National Sales Training and Development Manager - General, HNB Assurance, Jehan Haniff. President, SLIM, Ruwan Liyanagamage said, "We launched this corporate education program in 2011 and it has contributed to improved performance of companies in various sectors such as insurance, pharma, FMCG, mobile telecommunications and banking."

CEO Niranjan Manikkam said, "Through the solid relationship we had built over the past five years, HNB Assurance has always endured to instill a strong service and sales-oriented culture among our employees, facilitating a pathway to enhance their career and personal development." Secretary, SLIM, Pradeep Edward said, "Through this program we have delivered accelerated professional development of the staff of a wide range of companies over the past few years. The program includes customised education for individual companies and company performance is embedded in the project, thereby guaranteeing positive results."

The successful completion of the DPS and the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM) provides a pathway for employees to pursue postgraduate qualifications and further enhance their career prospects.

This qualification will also enable them to progress to the National Diploma in Sales Management (NDSM).
