Committee on Constitutional Reforms:
Public sittings in 24 districts
The Public Representation Committee on Constitutional Reforms will
hold public sittings in 24 districts next month, to record oral and
written submissions made to the committee by the public on the new
constitution.
A 20-member Committee was appointed with Cabinet approval to seek the
views of the public. The first public sittings were held in Colombo last
week.
Public sittings will be held at District Secretariat offices on the
following areas from 9.30 am to 4.30 p.m;
Gampaha - February 1 and 2 ,Kandy - February 1 and 2, Matale -
February 3 and 10, Kalutara - February 5 and 6, Vavuniya - February 5
and 6, Galle - February 8 and 9, Kilinochchi - February 8 and 9, Kegalle
- February 8 and 9, Matara - February 10 and 11, Mannar- February 10 and
11, Hambantota- February 12 and 13, Mullaitivu - February 12 and 13,
Kurunegala - February 15 and 16, Jaffna -February 15 and 16,
Anuradhapura - February 17 and 18, Puttalam - February 17 and 18, Nuwara
Eliya - February 19 and 20, Polonnaruwa - February 19 and 20, Badulla -
February 23 and 24, Trincomalee - February 23 and 24, Moneragala -
February 25 and 26, Batticaloa - February 25 and 26, Ratnapura -
February 27 and 29, Ampara - February 27 and 29.
The public who wish to make written or oral submissions during the
sittings could do so from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm on the respective dates.
