Triple Chariots Festival: The Triple Chariots Festival of the Wattala Hekitta Sri Subramanya Swamy Hindu temple was held on a grand scale yesterday Saturday, 23 , with the participation of a large number of devotees from the local areas and from all over the country. The magnificently and colourfully illuminated and decorated chariots of the deities of Sri Ganesha, Sri Maha Kaliambal and Sri Subramanya go in procession along the streets of Hendala and Wattala to bless devotees. Kavadi dancing, playing of the Hindu traditional flutes and beating of the drums will form part of the procession. The kavadi is a semicircular decorated canopy supported by a wooden rod which devotees carry on their shoulders and perform the dance of devotion.
