Virusara card for war heroes

Virusara a privilege card for war heroes, which grants them tangible discounts on medicines, food and other essentials will be launched tomorrow, January 25 on the initiative of the State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardena.

The Minister in a statement to the media said, the concept of Virusara Privilege Card was mooted by him and approved by the President.

This ‘visionary’ initiative he said will offer war heroes discounts on several items and services such as medicines, food, education, mobile and phone packages, insurance, leasing facilities, concessionary housing loans and transport on public and private buses, and railway as well.

He said it will make it easier to identify the Ranaviru family members and those with special needs, who number over 300,000.
