New building for Bandaranayake Vidyalaya

A new building block for Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, Tharawillu, Wilpotha in the Puttalam electorate was opened by former Minister of Muslim Affairs Al Haj A. H M. Azwer recently. MP Sanath Nishantha, K.R.M. Sandhya Kumara Rajapaksha, Education Minister of the North Western Province, Zonal Director of Education, W. P. S. Wijesinghe, Principal Manjula Samarajeewa, Al Haj C. M. M. Shareef Member of Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha and several others were present . It was built at a cost of Rs. 1.8 million.

Third month remembrance

A series of pinkamas to mark the completion of three months since the demise of Ven. Arakawila Rahula Thera will take place till January 25.

The late Ven. Thera was a Buddhist preacher and an astrologer of repute. He was the chief incumbent of three temples namely Sri Sanghikaramaya, Dematagoda, Sandagiri Vihara Arakawila and Sri Piyarathanaramaya Girandikanda Arakawila. The pinkamas will commence on Duruthu poya day and include Buddha poojas, Bodhi poojas, Dhamma sermons, alms giving to the Maha Sangha, Deva Poojas and Shanthi Karma.

The pinkama is organised by the Dayaka Sabha of the Sri Sanghikarama, Ketawalamulla, Dematagoda.
