Skin at ICES
The
South African High Commission and the International Centre for Ethnic
Studies (ICES) will be screening the award winning South African movie
'Skin' at the ICES Auditorium, 2 Kinsey Terrace, Colombo 8 on Friday,
January 29 at 4.30. p.m. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
'Skin' is a British-South African biographical film - based on the
book 'When She Was White: The True Story of a Family Divided by Race',
by Judith Stone. Directed by Anthony Fabian, the film is about Sandra
Laing, a South African woman born to white parents, who was classified
as 'Coloured' during the apartheid era presumably due to a genetic case
of atavism. The film won several international awards.
