Megapolis development plan launched

Megapolis and Western Region Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka launched the Megapolis Development Plan at Independence Square on Friday. President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe were also present.

The Government allocated Rs. 10 billion in the 2016 Budget for several projects to be implemented under the Megapolis Development Plan. The project will provide opportunities for local and foreign investors.

The government will adopt a four-pronged strategy to build a ‘Megapolis’ in three phases from this year till 2030.
