Largest granary opens in Buttala
Sri Lanka's largest granary with state- of- the-art facilities
constructed in Buttala, Monaragala will be opened today.
Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake will open the granary, constructed
at a cost of Rs. 260 million with World Bank aid. Some 20,000 metric
tons of grain can be stored in the complex.
The first such facility was set up at Galenbindunuwewa, Anuradhapura
and a similar complex is now under construction in Mannar.
The Finance Ministry plans to construct three more granary complexes
in Kilinochchi, Polonnaruwa and Embilipitiya in 2016, at a total cost of
Rs. 1,000 million. |
