The Dictator at the Wendt

The humorous satire 'The Dictator' directed by Namel Weeramuni is set
to make a return to the boards to delight theatergoers on 7th February
at the Lionel Wendt. Written by the late H.C.N de Lanerolle, this
vintage Ceylonese play is a classic set in the days of British colonial
rule over Sri Lanka. A side splitting comedy it has veteran actor of the
stage and screen Wijeratne Warakagoda playing the lead role together
with acting talents of well known faces from the stage and screen such
as Malini Weeramuni and Daya Tennekoon.
'Balloth
ekka bae' in Dehiwala
Two special shows of 'Balloth Ekka bae', the hilarious comedy,
written and directed by Ravindra Ariyaratne will be staged at 3.30 p.m.
and 6.45 p.m. on Saturday, February 6 at the Dehiwala S de S Jayasinghe
Theatre
The popular cast comprise Wijaya Nandasiri, Kumara Thirimadura,
Roshan Pilapitiya, Gihan Fernando, and Ferny Roshini. Music composition
and background creation is by Shantha Peiris and Luvoline Vandawall ,
while stage management is by Sumedha Prasanna. Jude Srimal is the main
organiser of the drama. Tickets available at Sarasavi Book Shops,
Maharagama, Nugegoda and Dehiwala, and at the Theatre Gate.
'Kema
Lasthi' at Mahanuwara
'Kema Lasthi' the newest political comedy, written and directed by
Ajith Mendis, will be staged at the Mahanuwara Hindu Cultural Centre, at
3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. today, January 31.
The cast include Sriyantha Mendis, Madini Malwattege, Janaka
Kumbukage, Wasantha Wittachchi, Saman Hemarathne, Keerthi K. Ratnayake,
Pradeep Arugama and Samantha Paranaliyanage. Music composition, sound
management, set design and stage management will be expertly executed by
Sarath Kulanga, Chandana Nishantha Pieris, Luvoline Wandawall and
Sameera Hettiarachchi. Costume design is by Kamalkanthi Bogoda and make
up is by Wasantha Wittachchi. Lighting effects are being handled by
Mihidu Madhushanka. 'Kema Lasthi' is produced and organised by Jude
Srimal.
Siriwardena
Powla at New Town Hall
The Colombo Chapter of the Alumni Association of the University of
Peradeniya will stage Rajitha Dissanyake's celebrated play 'Siriwardena
Powla at the New Town hall, Green Path, Colombo 7 on February 6.
Commencing at 6.30 p.m., the play is being . staged for raise funds for
the Association's social service activities. The cast inclused Dayadeva
Edirisinghe, Jayani Senanayake and Nadeeshani Peliarachchi Tickets are
available at Sarasavi Nugegoda, Sadeepa Borella and at the gate on the
day of play. |
