Sri Lanka recalls Ford as coach

Graham Ford has been re-enlisted as coach of the Sri Lanka team and his official appointment comes into effect on Monday.

In a Press statement Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said it was their priority to appoint a reputed coach for the team until the end of the World Cup in England in 2019.

"Bringing back a coach of Graham Ford's calibre is part of the new Executive Committee's plan towards restoring Sri Lanka cricket back to its glory days. He will be entrusted with the national team for a period of 45 months to build the strength and stability of our cricket until the ICC World Cup in 2019", SLC's statement said.

The statement added that Ford's reputation for being good with young players was among the reasons for the new Executive Committee to secure the South African for the job.

Ford is a former South African team coach and guided Sri Lanka to the final of the T20 World Cup in 2012.

He was the coach of Surrey County Cricket Club.
