Ocean rubbish bin invented
Have you ever been in the Ocean and got really annoyed because of the
rubbish?
Some surfers have invented a sea rubbish bin which floats on the
surface of the sea.
It helps the surfers and marine life such as turtles, whales,
dolphins and sea birds. All these animals are at risk due to so much
rubbish in the sea.
The inventors hope the bin can protect the environment. Studies show
that an average eight million tonnes of rubbish are thrown into the sea
every year.
Fish addicted to potato chips
A fish, that should be grey in colour, has turned an unusual shade of
pink after becoming addicted to prawn cocktail flavoured chips.
Gerty, the giant Gourami fish, was secured from her previous owner by
the Sea Life Aquarium in London.
Aquarium workers were worried when Gerty refused to eat the food they
fed her, before they found out about the unusual snack her previous
owner used to feed her.
Gourami fish traditionally eat fruit and veggies. Gerty, does not
seem to be affected by the unhealthy diet apart from her odd colour
change.
Gerty is now on a strict diet, with no chips!
2015,the hottest year
Scientists said that 2015 was the hottest year ever recorded.
Data from NASA showed that in 2015, the average temperature was 90°C
- above the 20th century average.
The worrying trend is that 2014 temperatures had also been above the
average.
Another alarming fact was that the temperature in December was the
highest on record for any month in the 136-year records taken.
The 2015 data highlights the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions if
the world is to maintain temperature increases below 2°C, the target
agreed upon by over 190 countries at climate talks in Paris.
