Yoshitha’s arrest, not unfair – Duminda Dissanayake

SLFP General Secretary and Agriculture Minister Duminda Dissanayake said those who had no idea about the law were saying the arrest of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second son, Yoshitha Rajapaksa was a gross injustice but the issue of Carlton Sports Network (CSN) was discussed since January 8 last year.

”There was a complaint that there was fraud and malpractices at CSN and we being investigated at present. Earlier, we hailed CSN as being owned by the Rajapaksa family and were happy that MP Namal Rajapaksa and his brother Yoshitha had launched a radio and television channel for our party,” he said.

Minister Arjuna Ranatunga was a key person who quit the then UPFA, to form this government. Arjuna Ranatunga and Nishantha Ranatunga contested the recently concluded Cricket Board election from the same side but Nishantha has also been taken into custody. It is not correct to say that only the Rajapaksa family had been targeted, he said.

The board of directors of CSN was arrested for the misappropriation of funds which had allegedly taken place in CSN. How can this be interpreted as hatred or a witch-hunt? Those who level such baseless allegations should view these cases dispassionately.
