Siththam
2016
An exhibition of creative art of the primary students of Royal
College, titled Siththam 2016 will be held at the J D A Perera Gallery,
University of the Visual and Performing arts - Horton Place, Colombo 7
on February 12 and 13. The exhibition, organised by the Royal Nelung
Centre Management Committee of the Royal College Union (RCU) will open
at 9.00 a.m. on each day and continue till 5.00 p.m.
The exhibition is a culmination of a series of workshops on creative
drawing conduction by the Royal Nelung Arts Centre Management Committee
(RNCMC) of the RCU in collaboration with the Royal College Primary
Section, for the past three months.
The workshops targeted students from Grade 2 to Grade 5, each student
required to submit a drawing of his choice at the end of the training
period. Given the number of students, the drawings submitted amounted to
1,500.
The drawings were judged by an elite panel of judges from the 'Sapumal
Foundation' who picked the first three places as well as Special Merit,
Merit and Recognition Awards for each grade respectively.
The
Royal College Nelung Centre situated at Hyde Park Corner, is a facility
managed by the RCU.
This institution has been created to promote and develop multiple
disciplines of performing art and other aesthetic activities.
The Centre consist of different spaces that could accommodate
activities such as classical ballet, social dancing, music, drama, arts,
Tae Kwon Do martial art etc. accessible to all educational institutions,
individuals and/ or corporate entities who wish to utilize this great
facility.
