AMAL Int'l celebrates 25th anniversary

AMAL International School celebrated its 25th Anniversary with the
participation of a large number students, teachers and parents recently
at the School premises. Desamanya Professor M. T. A. Furkhan was the
Chief Guest.
Amal International School was established in 1991 as a project of the
Centre for Islamic Studies (CIS).
It was the brainchild of M. C. M. Zarook of CIS, who is on the Board
of Directors.
Al Haj Abdul Careem Dungra who made it a reality, by approaching
donors and philanthropists here and abroad was also present.
Children from the primary section showcased their singing talent. A
thought-provoking debate on 'Privatisation of Education' by senior
studentsdrew the admiration of those present. Ashroff Rumi, Colombo City
Coroner who is the present Chairman of Amal International Board of
Directors and M. Mohamed Shazuli, principal also spoke. Prof. M. T. A.
Furkhan's pledge to donate Rs one million to modify the computer
laboratory was well-acclaimed. |
