Before the start of play both teams were regarded as formidable with
spectators expecting a keen tussle.
But the second half was one-sided as CR and FC rallied to pile on the
points.
The first half was a scrappy affair with the three-quarters of both
teams unable to make headway with the scoring being done by CR fullback
Prince Chamara who put over two penalties.
Four minutes after resumption, CR’s lock forward Jason Dissananayake
broke away from a ruck to score under the posts and give Chamara an easy
kick at goal.
Winger Shashan Mohamed put the finishing touches to a three-quarter
move to score an unconverted try and CR led 18-0 by the 28th minute of
the second half.
Three minutes later Police hit back to score a try by replacement
scrum half Mohamed Absal who fell over for an unconverted try by the
right corner flag.
Place kicker Mubarak missed the conversion.
Six minutes before the final whistle, CR’s centre Rehan Silva sliced
through the Police defence to score under the posts for Prince Chamara
to add the extra points and make it 25-5.
